Firstly, I’d like to begin by stating I find this quote from the film entirely ironic because I did not understand nor feel anything about this film except utter confusion.
Before watching this film I knew it was directed by the famous Christopher Nolan, who is known for his captivating but nonetheless puzzling creations. Such as Inception, The Dark Knight and Interstellar etc. However, knowing this did not prepare me for the profoundness of his recent movie, Tenet.

Tenet stars John David Washington – many know him as “Denzel Washington’s Son”, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki and Kenneth Branagh. John plays the Protagonist and Robert plays the character Neil, these are the main roles within the film and it is their journey the viewer follows. The journey leads the viewer through a twilight world where a mission is carried out in alternated reality. By successfully completing the mission the characters will stop World War III from commencing.

This action/thriller movie has gripping scenes of immense action where stunts are carried out to blow your mind. Also, suspenseful, storytelling scenes keep the viewer engaged with the jolting storyline.

However, the ever changing reality of time and worlds made it an incomprehensible watch at times. Christopher Nolan likes to leave hints and teasers throughout his films to keep the viewer engaged and guessing until the end. Usually I love movies that have me guessing right to the end and then the jigsaw is completed when the storyline is explained and everything begins to add up. Unfortunately, in my opinion this outcome was not achieved with Tenet’s ending. I still feel unsure about the overarching theme to the film as a whole and also some scenes in particular have left me scratching my head.
Thus, for me Tenet is a film I would not recommend to watch. There are scenes within the film that grasped me as a viewer and that kept me entertained. But as I said, piecing the story together in my mind has still not been achieved. The movie had me pretty confused from start to finish, therefore, I’m disappointed to say I did not enjoy this film as much as I expected to. I had high hopes for Tenet but it has left me unsatisfied and simply confused.
If you have seen the film, I’d love to hear your take on it and how you feel about it. So comment below and maybe we can simplify Tenet for the sake of my brain! (Lol)
